Deep renovation with transformation of historic building (national monument) from current use as a public Spa to a new use for Health Center and Kindergarten. 
The public swimming pool at Hürth was opened in 1929 as a municipality driven facility. Since 1987 the building itself and the surrounding architectural ensemble are protected as a national monument. If transformed it is forbidden to change the building structure and the detailed design. The building was closed in 2007 and sold to a private investor in 2013. The national monument registering process provides opportunities of extra funding and lot of restriction of possible building adjustments at the same time. Aspects of energy efficiency and quality improvement are often compromised, and there are a lot of unsolved problems regarding energy consumption issues and the application of existing building materials and components.

The PnP prefab deep renovation solutions provided by P2ENDURE will help to find answers for this dilemma: protected art versus technology application. As the building envelope was never improved – since 1929 with the exception of new windows - the possible outcome of a realized energy improvement concept related to current use of energy resources will offer extraordinary better results as currently existing. Especially HVAC solutions (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) are requested that are relevant and applicable. As the new use scheme for the building is including a reduced SPA the reduction of the energy consumption is crucial for the economically efficient operation. The target is an energy consumption of 120 kWh/(m²·a) following the limits of the ambitious passive housing standard in Germany for new buildings. The foreseen planning and realisation time is about 15 months.
