General Description

Università Politecnica delle Marche includes 5 Faculties: Engineering, Medicine and Surgery, Economy, Science and Agriculture. The organization is subdivided in 12 Departments for a total amount of 523 units among professors of I, II level and fixed-term researchers. The Department of Industrial Engineering and Mathematical Sciences (DIISM) will participate in the project with the Mechanical and Thermal Measurement Group. Main areas of research are connected with development and application of new sensors and experimental techniques for material characterization, structural and environmental monitoring, non-destructive testing and embedded systems. Main fields of application of interest for the project are: smart sensors for indoor environments, building energy and comfort monitoring, non-contact measurement techniques and data analysis.

Key Personnel and Relevant Expertise

Prof Gian Marco Revel, (Male): is Associate Professor in Mechanical and Thermal Measurement, with research interest in the field of sensor and measurement technologies for industrial applications, with particular focus on the construction sector, building energy efficiency, in-field material characterization and non-destructive testing. He is Leader of the Material & Sustainability Committee of ECTP (European Construction Technology Platform) and Coordinator of the Italian Construction Technology Platform. He is author of more than 100 publications and Scientific Responsible for several projects in the area of technologies for Energy Efficiency and Materials in Buildings. He is currently Deputy Rector for European Research.

Dr Marco Arnesano, (Male): is Research Fellow with 6 years of experience in the development of innovative systems and sensors for indoor environments monitoring and building management. Research interests include ICT for Energy Efficiency, thermal comfort, sensors, signal processing, simulation modelling, and software development.

Dr Giuseppe Pandarese, (Male): is a Post-doctoral Research Fellow with 10 years of experience in Mechanical and Thermal Measurement, with special interest in non-contact measurement sensor and technology. His works is focused on the development of techniques for structural integrity of components (ultrasound, laser ultrasonic, thermography, etc.) and energy performance (thermal measurements).

Dr Giulia Sbano, (Female): graduated in Economics. She has been working with the Mechanical and Thermal Measurement Group at Università Politecnica delle Marche since 2006 and she is responsible for the management and dissemination tasks of Research Projects. She supported the staff in the dissemination activities of four projects organizing also public events and workshops. She is now involved in the management of two European Research Projects.
