E-Marketplace & Local Renovation Factory

Value-chain integration & smart logistics through e-Marketplace + Local Renovation Factory

Integrated with the 4M modular processes, P2ENDURE realises value-chain integration and smart logistics through an e-Marketplace and local renovation factories. Local factories bring the most added values in terms of efficiency for renovation projects at district scale.

e-Marketplace concept in P2ENDURE

The main innovation enabled by the P2ENDURE e-Marketplace is the enlargement of the value-chain via integration of all partners into a new business model that helps to raise the profit of the partners by reducing construction errors and mistakes (e.g. the profit would raise if the costs of the failure removals are reduced). The integration of services, architects, engineers and other needed experts, is important to create a holistic offer. The result is an accurate and competitive package offer.
The e-Marketplace will be interfaced with a BIM-oriented procurement / tendering platform that facilitates multicriteria decision making for optimizing the different offers to clients. At the implementation of deep renovation, this platform will support efficient management of the holistic material flow combined with targets in terms of costs, time and quality issues (e.g. order a window at the right time with the foreseen quality and steer the just-in-time (JIT) delivery fitting to the needs of local production or prefab needs).

Local Renovation Factory concept in P2ENDURE for district-scale deep renovation

In order to bring the demand side and supply side in the retrofitting market together, P2ENDURE introduces the Local Renovation Factory concept. The Local Renovation Factory is both a physical production site and a logistic distribution centre for prefab building and MEP components (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing). The local factory is a temporarily set-up in or close to the district to be renovated. After the renovation the factory is closed and moved to the next district. This concept ensures minimal energy loss by transports and reduces energy-content of components. The local factory is also used to boost social cohesion, to stimulate local employment, to train local labour and to deal with local unemployment.
The factory will develop and assemble prefab building components that will be installed in the deep renovation projects. This concept has big advantages: easier logistics (just-in-time delivery), limited transport (and reduction of embedded energy), limited construction time at the project site (occupants can stay in their house), weather protected environment to assemble and install advanced installations and ICT hardware in the building components, higher standardization of all components within a district.
