Block of three apartment buildings in Soest, Germany
(geo-cluster West Europe)
This demonstration case is no longer available. Information on the new demonstration building will be published soon.
The 3 nearly identical high rise apartment buildings were erected in 1970 with overall 116 apartments and have 7 storeys each and a Gross Floor Area of 3 x 3,358 m² = 10,074 m². The Gross Volume is 3 x 9,314 m³ = 27,942 m³. Each regular floor has 4 apartments with sizes from 65 to 90 m².
Building structure: The outside and bearing walls are concrete or masonry walls. The floor slabs, the roof and the balconies consist of reinforced concrete. The nonbearing interior walls are masonry walls. The energy performance of the buildings is substandard to actual demands (German Energieeffizienzklasse G). Prefab deep renovation solutions: Adding prefabricated facade elements, prefabricated lightweight rooftop extension, prefabricated integrated installation. Energy saving target after deep renovation: Zero energy consumption.
The replication potential is high because the building type is very common in Germany. The estimated total cost for energy renovation of the building envelope is € 550,000.
